A friend is someone who is very special but rare,
A friend is someone who wants to share part of his life with someone else,
A friend is someone you love and trust.
A friend can be you,
And a friend can be me,
Because I want to be your friend.
When you have a friend, you don't have to say, "I love you,” you know it.
With true friendship nothing is more important than sharing with each other something that cannot be shared with anyone else (happiness).
It takes two people searching for the same thing to bring them together to understand each other.
A friend is someone who wants to help and understand,
A friend is someone who will be pleased with all your
accomplishments in life, no matter how big or small.
A friend is happiness,
A friend is someone who doesn't find fault in anything
you do, but tries to widen the picture to help you understand
what you may be doing wrong.
A friend can be you,
And a friend can be me,
Because I want to be your friend.

The above prose was written in memory of my friend, Peter Fudge, of Brampton, Ontario, who instilled the spirit of hope in me.
