This is what I wrote:
Title: It's Not Over Until It's Over - Never Give Up
Beth entered the 400-metre race to represent her school with the intent of winning! It was an important event for her because her boyfriend was there and promised to take her for a romantic dinner if she won. Beth had her eyes fixed on winning the grand trophy and a delightful dinner!
The whistle blew and Beth took off as fast as her legs would take her with the rest of the cluster of competitors. It was a muddy day because it had rained the evening before. Beth came around a corner and slipped in the mud and wet grass. What a fright! She didn’t feel there was anything amusing about being covered in mud from head to toe.
Beth skimmed face-first into the wet, dirty mud. The other runners past her. Beth jumped up speedily, like a marathon runner, to get back into the competition. Her eyes and heart were still fixed on that trophy and dinner. Beth gave it her all, and like Wonder Woman, Beth started catching up to the other sprinters and then began passing them one by one. She could hear the cheering and gasping from the crowd as they watched in disbelief!
Beth looked like a clown covered from top to bottom at the end of the race, but she did finish in first place. She earned the grand trophy and a delicious dinner with her partner. They spent the rest of the evening laughing about the earlier events that took place that day.
